Electric cooktop installation in Sydney

Install electric, ceramic, and induction cooktops across Sydney. Dedicated circuit verified, certificate of electrical compliance, sealed to the benchtop.

Electric, ceramic, and induction cooktops share the same install discipline: a dedicated circuit, a benchtop cutout, a precise seal, and a certificate of compliance. The differences are in the circuit rating and the airflow requirements. We install all three across Sydney for homeowners, renovators, and kitchen fitters.

What is involved

The work covers:

  • Benchtop cutout. The opening is checked against the manufacturer’s template. Stone benchtops are cut by a stonemason in advance; laminate and timber benchtops we cut on the day.
  • Circuit verification. Most existing electric cooktops sit on a 20 A circuit. Some induction cooktops need 32 A. We test the existing circuit rating, confirm it suits the new unit, and upgrade where needed.
  • Airflow clearance. Induction in particular needs clear airflow under the unit. The cabinetry is checked against the manufacturer’s specified gap.
  • Connection. The cooktop is wired to the dedicated circuit, terminated correctly at the switchboard end, and tested under load.
  • Seal and sign off. The unit is sealed to the benchtop with the manufacturer-supplied gasket or appropriate silicone so spills cannot enter the cabinetry. Each burner or zone is tested before we leave.
  • Certificate of compliance. Issued at the end of the job.

Why induction installations are different

Induction cooktops are sensitive to airflow restriction. Many of the early-life faults we see (over-temperature cutouts, fan errors, intermittent zones) come from installs where the cabinetry blocked the cooling airflow. The right gap and the right ventilation path matter as much as the electrical work.

Brands we install

Miele, Bosch, Smeg, Fisher & Paykel, Westinghouse, Electrolux, ILVE, NEFF, Gaggenau, Asko, Omega, Whirlpool, Samsung, LG. Premium European and mainstream global covered.

How it works

  1. Send us the brand, model, cooktop type (electric, ceramic, induction), and install address.
  2. We confirm an appointment. Same-week common.
  3. We install, verify the circuit, seal the unit, and test each zone or burner.
  4. You sign the compliance paperwork and we leave with the packaging.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

  • What is the difference between an electric, ceramic, and induction cooktop install?
Mostly the circuit rating. Older electric coil cooktops sit on a 20 A circuit. Ceramic cooktops are similar. Full-size induction cooktops often need a 32 A circuit because they draw more peak current.
  • Will my existing wiring support a new induction cooktop?
We check on the diagnostic visit. If the existing circuit is 20 A and the new induction cooktop is rated for 32 A, the circuit needs an upgrade. We quote that as part of the install.
  • Does the cooktop need a residual current device (RCD)?
Yes. Modern installations sit behind an RCD that trips on earth fault. We confirm the protection is present and tested as part of the install.
  • How long does the install take?
About 2 to 3 hours for a like-for-like replacement. Longer if a new circuit needs to be run from the switchboard.
