Alpha Home Appliances Pty Ltd (“Alpha Home Appliances”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of the people we work with. This policy explains how we handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
What we collect
When you contact us through the website, we collect:
- Name. So we can address you in our reply.
- Email address. So we can send a written response.
- Phone number (optional). So we can call if a phone conversation is faster.
- Suburb. So we can confirm we cover your area.
- Appliance details and fault description. So we can prepare for the service visit.
We do not collect financial information, payment details, or government identifiers through the website. If we visit your premises to perform a service, we may record the make, model, and serial number of the appliance for warranty and parts-ordering purposes.
Why we collect it
Personal information collected through the website is used only to respond to your enquiry, schedule a service visit, perform the work, invoice you, and follow up on the repair. We do not use it for unrelated marketing, and we do not on-sell it.
How we store it
Submissions through the website’s contact form are stored in our customer-records system. Emails are stored in our email provider’s servers (which may include overseas data-centres operated by major email vendors. See APP 8 disclosure below).
The website is served over HTTPS. We restrict access to your information to staff who need it to perform the service.
How long we keep it
We retain personal information for as long as is reasonably necessary to provide the service, meet legal obligations (e.g., tax records. Typically seven years), and resolve any subsequent warranty or service issues. After that, records are securely destroyed or de-identified.
Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent personal information. We disclose it only:
- To the technician attending the service visit (so they know who and where).
- To our software providers (email, scheduling, accounting) under their contractual privacy obligations.
- Where required by law (e.g., subpoena, regulator request).
Overseas disclosure (APP 8)
Some of the software we use to run the business (email, scheduling) is operated by overseas providers. We take reasonable steps to ensure those providers handle personal information in a manner consistent with the APPs.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act, you can:
- Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction if any information is inaccurate or out of date.
- Lodge a complaint if you believe we have breached the APPs.
To exercise any of these rights, email wecare@alphahomeappliances.com.au with “Privacy” in the subject. We respond in line with the Privacy Act’s timeframes (generally within 30 days).
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). See oaic.gov.au.
Cookies and tracking
The website uses Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics service that does not use cookies and does not collect personal information about visitors. We do not run advertising trackers, third-party pixels, or session-recording tools.
